The Friends of the Historic Union Community Hall operating the Catherine Creek Community Center is excited to announce that the organization has received funding from Fred W. Fields Fund of the Oregon Community Foundation.
Cherie Kausler from the Friends of The Historic Union Community Hall writes, “We are excited to partner with Oregon Community Foundation to expand service to Union and our surrounding communities.”
The dollars will be used for youth programming at the community center. Beginning October 6th, 2022 the community center will offer a preschool playgroup on the first and third Thursdays and second and fourth Fridays of each month from 9:00-11:00. Parents come with their children for organized activities, circle time and free play.
OCF dollars will support a summer program in 2023! This is an exciting opportunity for the youth of Union. Staff will develop two, weeklong camps with varying themes for each camp.
A Backpack program, offering a confidential opportunity for Union’s children to take home additional food, will be provided during all youth activities. Staff and volunteers will be accepting food donations for the Backpack program during the month of October. Recommended items include Breakfast, lunch and snack items in single serving sizes.
The current Youth Group will offer more hours and fun activities. Last year youth from 3rd grade to 6th grade participated in a number of events and activities including bi-monthly groups, City of Union parades and family engagement events.
