Position #1

 Youth Group Program CoordinatorJob Description

Hours per week 8

Hourly Wage $15.00

Job brief

Administer Youth Group program at the Catherine Creek Community Center.

Two Youth Groups (different age groups) will meet weekly during the school year plus summer programming.

Groups meet at the Catherine Creek Community Center located at 667 N Main Street, Union, Oregon 97883

Youth Group Hours: Mondays 3:30-5:30 and Thursdays 3:30-5:30 (two different age groups) during the school year

Mission Statement of the Catherine Creek Community Center:

To bring local community members together by providing a venue that supports local charitable efforts, connects local citizens and provides opportunities for participation in activities that celebrate the history of the area as well as the local community.  Our ultimate goals are to contribute to the revitalization of the Union community, preserving the legacy of the Catherine Creek Community Center as well as promoting social, economic and cultural development for the local area.  Our focus areas are food security, education, community health and the arts.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, design and host Youth Group activities
  • Plan, design, promote and host summer programming
  • Understand position funding sources and requirements (reporting) 
  • Plan activities and events
  • Support and encourage parent and family participation in the program 
  • Provide developmentally appropriate program activities 
  • Develop and enforce Youth Group program policies and procedures 
  • Report regularly to the Board of Directors
  • Track program participants
  • Review the Oregon Child Care Division requirements and the current status of Catherine Creek Community Center as a school age program  
  • Participate in the Oregon Child Care Division Criminal History Check
  • Manage Youth Group Assistant and Summer Interns 
  • Participate in training opportunities  

Requirements and skills

  • Prior experience working with youth
  • Prior experience supervising staff
  • Knowledge and understanding of financial accountability standards
  • Creativity and resourcefulness in planning activities for youth
  • Knowledge and understanding of youth development stages and ability to create appropriate content
  • Complete a Criminal History Background Check 
  • Complete Food Handler Training/Card
  • Understand Catherine Creek Community Center Policies and Procedures 
  • Understand Catherine Creek Community Center Youth Protection Policy 
  • Locate First Aid Kit and Fire Extinguishers

  • Support a safe and clean environment for children
  • Participate in training opportunities 
  • Support parent and family participation in the program
  • Foster developmentally appropriate activities that support social, emotional and physical well being
  • Understand and enforce Youth Group policies and procedures
  • Track program participation
  • Help prepare and serve food for Youth Group
    • Help to distribute Backpack Food to children in need.
  • Help to arrange substitute staff when appropriate.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Participate in outreach, marketing and promotion activities. 

Requirements and skills

  • Prior experience working with youth is preferred.
  • Must be dependable, organized and proactive.
  • Be responsive to needs of the Community Center board, the Youth Group Program Coordinator, and the youth
  • Assistant reports to the Youth Group Program Coordinator
  • Arrive early and stay late to assist with set up and clean up
  • Complete a Criminal History Background Check
  • Complete Food Handler Training/Card
  • Understand Catherine Creek Community Center Policies and Procedures
  • Understand Catherine Creek Community Center Youth Protection Policy
  • Locate first aid kit, phone and fire extinguishers
